There are Civil War Re-enactments at Neshaminy State Park. We visited one in April 2013. Along with the battle re-enactment, there are campsites and tables with vendors and food. It’s a great day to visit some history.
The reenactment includes realistic battles as well as tours of the encampments where the re-enactors explain the daily lives of the soldiers and support personnel. There are also vendors selling everything from kettle cooked popcorn to Civil War Memorabilia.
Check in advance as to when the battle or battles will be fought. You can bring chairs or blankets. When we went, the spectators could sit on a slight hill which provided great visibility. A telephoto lens and/or binoculars would be nice to have.
If you are interested in Civil War history, there is are canons in Lambertville and New Hope on public display.
UPDATE – 2019 – Due to issues between the organizers and park rangers, the event will no longer be held in Neshaminy State Park.
